Oh, this is a PC....I assumed you were on a mac.  Duh.  :-/  

I never used NCSA/pc much; I started using Windows clients since there
were easier to use and were much better behaved.

On the Mac version there is a 'local echo' option off one of the menus.

I don't know how to set it up for a PC.
