Subject: How to get a shell from sysinstall

I'm trying to install 2.1.0-950726-SNAP from floppies, but because I've
got access to a un*x machine, I wrote the floppies with tar. I thought
that I would be able to manually extract the distributions by hand and
then proceed with the installation. The problem is that I can't get a
shell to issue the magic tar command (and I know that tar is there because I
can see the commands used by sysinstall on the second screen.)

Any advice is welcome,
Andras (lazy to rewrite 20+ floppies)
