[Snip long list of files in the ports tree whose names do contain other
characters than those mentioned above.]

Nothing should be done about them at the moment.

The policy so far has been that nothing should be done about badly named
files already in the ports tree - renaming them is not worth the pain and
repository churn that would result.

One should however avoid adding *new* files that break the rules.

If you look through the mailing list archives I am sure you can find several
discussions on this matter.
