This problem isn't limited to GNOME 2.3 or -CURRENT.  I have started
seeing this recently on my -STABLE 2.2 machine.  Something changed
between both versions that causes this.  Perhaps the recent GTK+ update,
fixes to libgnomeui, not sure...  In any event, themus doesn't seem to
be affected.

I'm going to file a bug with GNOME to see if they have any ideas.
