No, you're completely misunderstanding.  The problem with this port
was that it does #include <machine/soundcard.h>, which is a header
that no longer exixts in 5.0 (and is a compatibility symlink on 4.x).
The port just needed to be changed to #include <sys/soundcard.h> on
all versions of FreeBSD.
