Thanks for looking into it chris.
The 2.10.1 version crashes but  using version  irc2.10.3a5 works ok.
Still it doesnt run "out of the box" cause the makefile has to be edited
to point to the right directories.
Otherwise it dies cause it cannot reached the files it needs.. ircd.conf
etc.
