I just set up a new machine recently, installed a bunch of apps, and then went on to portupgrade one particular app - pan. When I ran pkgdb -F it first gives this little problem - Checking the origin of ruby-uri-0.9,1 Stale origin: 'net/ruby-uri' Guessing... no idea. New origin? (? to help): ? [Enter] to skip, [.][Enter] to abort, [Tab] to complete New origin? (? to help): pressing [tab] causes the box to beep and that's all, pressing [. enter] causes the program to abort and pressing enter it asks Skip This? [yes or no]. I don't know what to do here so I hit yes and skip it. Then the program continues and I get this on hotjava, which I just installed not more than one hour before - Checking hotjava-3.0 Stale dependency: hotjava-3.0 -> compat3x-i386-4.4.20011227: New dependency? (? to help): If I press enter it asks me for a new dependency, what do I do? Do I skip it? delete it? hit yes or no or all? So I skip it, and pkgdb continues, and then I get quite a few of these - Regenerating +REQUIRED_BY files Checking for cyclic dependencies Checking for origin duplicates Duplicated origin: devel/gettext - gettext-0.10.35_1 gettext-0.11.1_1 Remove any of them? [no] Duplicated origin: graphics/gdk-pixbuf - gdk-pixbuf-0.15.0 gdk-pixbuf-0.17.0 Remove any of them? [no] Duplicated origin: x11-toolkits/gtk12 - gtk-1.2.10_3 gtk-1.2.10_4 Remove any of them? [no] Duplicated origin: audio/esound - esound-0.2.23 esound-0.2.24 Remove any of them? [no] Duplicated origin: devel/gnomevfs - gnomevfs-1.0.3 gnomevfs-1.0.5_2 Remove any of them? [no] Again, what do I do with these? Do I remove the older file listed (based on the version number)? I read the man page and it doesn't appear to answer these questions. Does anyone have, or know of any, instructions on just what to do with this program? The Handbook doesn't cover pkgdb, and a search on freebsd.org turns up no responses. -- Chip W www.wiegand.org chip@wiegand.org To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
