# ls -l /dev/|grep fd
dr-xr-xr-x  2 root  wheel          512 Apr 26 19:22 fd
crw-r-----  1 root  operator    9,   0 Apr 26 19:21 fd0
lrwxr-xr-x  1 root  wheel            6 Apr 26 19:22 stderr -> fd/2
lrwxr-xr-x  1 root  wheel            5 Apr 26 19:22 stdin -> fd/0
lrwxr-xr-x  1 root  wheel            6 Apr 26 19:22 stdout -> fd/1

As you can see, /dev/fd/0 isn't a floppy, /dev/fd0 is it.
