I think also that if you update the R510 BIOS, Dell often include 
microcode updates in that (though checking their release notes should 
confirm that).

Does the server have an iDRAC or BMC? Checking the event log in that 
might possibly show more clues. You could install ipmitool to query the 
BMC log from within FreeBSD.
