The "FreeBSD ports" is for applications that run on FreeBSD.  If you're ok 
with Linux and/or Windows version, there's no porting required as you know, 
and no ports also required.

Ok, it seems some misunderstandings; what "FreeBSD ports" is needed for VMware 
player?
