    kiltdown (http://www.kiltdown.org) has been written with exactly
what you said in mind (it's the only reason I used to use windows). 
However, i've been a bit busy lately, and while I still use it as my
primary mail program, it needs a bit more work before it'd be a TRULY
amazing replacement.

    A lot of people are quite keen on Evolution, but I've found it too
unreliable to use as my primary mail client.
