Yes, I also bothering about this.

A number of my PRs with patches made against RELENG_2_2 were
committed into -current only, and these PRs were then closed.

I think, Poul, you shouldn't just close a PR, if you close it only
for -current. Instead, you can just change the synopsis, for example:

Old Synopsis: Problem
New Synopsis: [RELENG_2_2] Problem
