I installed 2.2.2 from the FTP site and have had a couple of problems. I don't think I am doing anything wrong. Problem #1. The Install program does not update rc.conf. You go through the post install menu and fill out all the stuff, exit install, reboot and it comes up with a virgin rc.conf file. No interface settings, no network configurations, etc. Even /etc/hosts was not updated. I tried to rerun /stand/sysinstall to reanswer the questions and it prompted me differently (like it was reading the entire line from the file, just not the answer. Thus for hostname, the field contained: myname.my.domain #you must change this (or what ever was in rc.conf). I cleared the entire field and entered my information. When it was said and done, /etc/hosts has been updated, /etc/hosts resolv.conf had been updated, but rc.conf was still virgin. Finally I updated it by hand and things work now, but . . . Second problem, when I login as root I get a message about a missing login_class: root. I read about the class stuff in the man pages, but a fresh install shouldn't require me to go put in files for the base accounts. Did I do something wrong or is the install for 2.2.2 from ftp.freebsd.org making oopses? As of now, I only have to deal with this login problem because I have the machine configured the way I want it, but . . . Rob
