I read over the recent thread about the number of CPUs detected and reported at boot time. If I followed this correctly, dual Xeon processors should be detected as four CPUs due to hyperthreading, but one person reported that only two were being detected because the APIC IDs of the two CPUs were expected to be 0 and 2, but were coming back as 0 and 3 instead. (Presumably the other pair of CPUs would report ids of 1 and 3.) I have the opposite problem. My dual Xeons are reporting APIC IDs of 0 and 1. Yes, hyperthreading is turned on in the BIOS; I checked. 'dmesg' output follows. Any ideas or suggestions? Copyright (c) 1992-2003 The FreeBSD Project.
