On a note back on track with the subject, I was looking for
information on another topic when I ran accross this URL,

http://www.news.com/News/Item/0,4,29416,00.html

The title of the story is, "Unix trounces Windows NT in testing."
Admittedly, the version of UNIX they are comparing to (AIX, Digital
UNIX, Solaris, IRIX, and HP-UX) are not FreeBSD or even PC based
systems, but it still could give you an idea of the advantages of
UNIX-based OSes over NT. And those OSes don't even have the power of
open source.
