To change your default window manager (and fvwm is pretty good, and very 
customizable) you need to modify either .xsession or .xinitrc (depending 
on how you start X - with xdm or with startx, respectively). See man xdm 
or man startx for details. Probably the best thing to do (after you've 
read the relevant man page) is to copy the default system-wide file to 
your login directory and modify it to your liking.
