No, I'm arguing that it is more natural to have a ccdcontrol and etc. than it it is to have a ccd sysctl and a ppp sysctl and a rnd sysctl and a foo sysctl and a ..., each with its own more than a handful of sub-variables, each with its own kludges to handle multiple units and each with its own kludges to recover device attributes.
