Could you use something like: rootdevname = getenv("kern.rootdev.name"); #ifdef ROOTDEVNAME if (!rootdevname) rootdevname = ROOTDEVNAME; #else if (!rootdevname) rootdevname = ... old guessing behaviour so that the loader can unconditionally override the root device name? I have this crazy plan to read /etc/fstab to try find the root device before starting the kernel, which should make all this crap about guessing it based on the disk label obsolete. -- \\ Sometimes you're ahead, \\ Mike Smith \\ sometimes you're behind. \\ mike@smith.net.au \\ The race is long, and in the \\ msmith@freebsd.org \\ end it's only with yourself. \\ msmith@cdrom.com To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe cvs-all" in the body of the message
