...sorry for the noise all... I got it by adding the following to the
main .mc file:

FEATURE(`no_default_msa')dnl

...thereafter:

Apr 27 13:08:00 onlyv6 sendmail[43728]: starting daemon (8.14.4):
SMTP+queueing@00:30:00

...and:

onlyv6# netstat -na

tcp6       0      0 2607:f118:8c0:80.587   *.*                    LISTEN
tcp6       0      0 2607:f118:8c0:80.25    *.*                    LISTEN
