Peter and Rod have put together a way to do "ports" of externally maintained
software.  I thought it was understood that if you want to bring in other
software, you need to talk to them first, as they're just about ready to
deal with this.

Given that "ee" is such a small program, I would -strongly- encourage you
to use that as the first case for src/external.  Please talk to Peter or
Rod.
