This list is run by Mailman. It's a matter of a couple of clicks in a web interface to change the list settings so that (a) mail from known subscribers is passed through and (b) mail from everyone else is held for moderator attention. This is by no means a panacea, but it does cut out a great deal of the noise, thereby allow more focused attention on whatever manages to escape this measure. ---Rsk
