i need some help.i compiled the kernal.and it compiled ok.but when i
tried to boot the new kernal,,,it said "cannot mount root".do you know
what this error could mean? in the configuration file there was one thing
that said

root device is wd0

do you think that that may have been the wrong root device for my
system? how can i determione the root device? i have an ide hard drive.

i would really appreciate any help,,and another thing,,how do you get
back into the system if i cant boot the new kernal??
