Would be very nice for me and my libretto.  This would allow me to
move my newton hack daemon into the kernel so I can use it at any time
after the sytem probes it.

We'll need something like this for some systems that FreeBSD will be
running on in the future which don't have PC-like keyboard
interfaces.  Something like the wscon abstraction in NetBSD would make
things easier...
