Well, I think that the maintainer did not oppose this. However, I seriously oppose this. :) audio is for audio related ports. I read audio related as for audio processing be it coding/decoding/playing... xmms-pipe does no such thing. It is a plugin for xmms that allows users to control xmms through a named pipe. There are several xmms related plugins that lie in graphics. Should we move them to audio? IMO they should not be moved since they're primarily graphics based. xmms-pipe is primarily misc based. Incidently, it is used by an audio based program. This does not make it an audio category program. There is nowhere in the Porters Handbook a line saying that a plugin should override its proper category in favor of the category of the program (xmms in this case) it serves as plugin. Therefore, we should use common sense here. I know that your reasoning is as fair as I think mine is. Why don't we rule this once and for all? While we are here, I think we should move some ports out of audio category: *nap* (napster related) and ag* (audio galaxy related) ports should be in net not audio category. Before someone argues, most of the old nap* ports are actually opennapster related; thus, they transmit anything, not only mp3 files. Therefore, they're more akin to p2p software than audio software.
