Mark Murray has a patch in testing, I think. Thanks for the reply Kris. This morning I blew everything away and started again with 4.0-release. This is a first install of FreeBSD on this box, so nothing was worth saving. If only I'd followed my own instructions [in the Diary] for setting up a cvsup file.....
