I rebuilt it with the knob pointing at the patch, and did a reinstall, and
I can now see that I have this new open-motif installed:

% pkg_info | grep -i motif
Xaw3d-1.5 A 3-D Athena Widget set that looks like Motif
open-motif-2.2.3_2 Motif X11 Toolkit (industry standard GUI (IEEE 1295))
open-motif-jdk-2.2.3_2 Motif X11 Toolkit (industry standard GUI (IEEE 1295))

But it's not clear to me which version I'm actually using. Using ldd on X
and java didn't seem to answer the question...any suggestions?

Thanks!

Mike
