I certainly won't object (in fact I will encourage you to do such
tasks), as long as you check and see if anything in the main source
tree calls it with the incompatible options.

 * I use I have to install from the current release, its kind of annoying.

You know, I tend to think that if you send us bmaked diffs for half
the things that you complain about, the world will be a much warmer
and fuzzier place for all FreeBSD'ers. :)
