Simple.

CVS already contains the tagged sources which make up 3.4-RELEASE and
STABLE afterwards.

3.4-RELEASE will be pressed on CD, but ofcourse development just
continues.

So it is quite normal to see snapshots whilst the CD's are not present
yet.  That takes time.
