https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=196888 Bug ID: 196888 Summary: dns/pdnsd: default config hangs on boot. pdns_flags should (at least) include "--deamon". Product: Ports & Packages Version: Latest Hardware: Any OS: Any Status: New Severity: Affects Many People Priority: --- Component: Individual Port(s) Assignee: ashish@FreeBSD.org Reporter: freebsd@pipe.nl Flags: maintainer-feedback?(ashish@FreeBSD.org) Assignee: ashish@FreeBSD.org The system startup scripts require that anything they start will run as a daemon, but the default for pdns_flags (empty) is not forcing this. In a default config your system won't boot past pdnsd... Compare this to the default for sendmail_flags which explicitly sets -bd to force daemon mode. The proper default for pdns_flags would be "--daemon --guardian". This will also make good on the promise the docs make about running in guardian mode automatically when starting from system startup scripts. --- Comment #1 from Bugzilla Automation <bugzilla@FreeBSD.org> --- Auto-assigned to maintainer ashish@FreeBSD.org -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
