Hi !

I would to ask if it is possible to link two
routers A and B via ethernet interfaces
but configure the link with two different addresses
which could not possibly be part of the same IP subnet ?

For example

intf a 10.0.0.1 netmask 255.255.255.255
intf b 172.25.28.1 netmask 255.255.255.255

in sketch below.

    ----- ----
   | | a b | |
   | A |---------------------| B |
   | | ethernet | |
    ----- -----

Intuitively I would expect this needs to be configured as a Point-To-Point
interface. Can the Point-to-Point flag be set on an ethernet interface in
FreeBSD ?

Is the above setup feasible/valid from an IP networking point of view ?

TIA
