I've also seen this with an AHA2742.  The problem vanishes if you take
the time to go through UserConfig, and disable all the drivers that
are not needed.

I slightly remember Justin telling that this might be the `bt' driver
that kills the Adaptec.  Maybe it would be sufficient to disable this
one.
