Hi,

I work for CLEAR Communications in New Zealand. We run the
ftp.nz.freebsd.org mirror.

Historically we ran the clunky Perl ftp mirror script. I later changed to
rsync from the Australian mirror - although this was problematic for some
silly inter-carrier bandwidth reasons.

I left the problem to a colleague who told me that he had organised rsync
from the US mirror. This appears to be broken at present and I am not sure
if it ever worked (that person has since left the company).

The rsync to ftp.freebsd.org fails with "Connection timed out" - which
would indicate that our SYNs are silently discared somewhere - maybe.

Actually - ftp.freebsd.org seems to be a *long* way away:

# traceroute ftp.freebsd.org.

Are you able to point me at good source for our mirror? We have an OC3 to
Los Angeles - soon to add another. Bandwidth to Australia is presently
under pressure.

Kind regards,

Jamie Clark.
