Hi,

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but atacontrol(8) doesn't
seem to work as described in the manpage. In particular,
"atacontrol list" should print a list of ATA devices, if
I'm not mistaken. On my machine it doesn't print anything
at all:

# atacontrol list
#

The devices are there, though:

# atacontrol info 2
Master: ad4 <Maxtor 4G160J8/GAK819K0> ATA/ATAPI rev 6
Slave: no device present
# atacontrol info 3
Master: acd0 <24X10/P.MJ> ATA/ATAPI rev 0
Slave: no device present

I'm not using the on-board IDE controller, because it's an
intel PIIX (FreeBSD doesn't seem to support its DMA mode),
therefore ata0 and ata1 are unused. ata2 and ata3 are on
a Promise TX2 UDMA-133 controller.

# dmesg | grep ata
atapci0: <Intel PIIX ATA controller> at device 7.1 on pci0
atapci0: ATA channel disabled by BIOS
atapci1: <Promise TX2 ATA133 controller> port 0xc000-0xc00f,0xc400-0xc403,0xc800-0xc807,0xd000-0xd003,0xd400-0xd407 mem 0xfbbf0000-0xfbbf3fff irq 11 at device 12.0 on pci0
ata2: at 0xd400 on atapci1
ata3: at 0xc800 on atapci1
ad4: 156334MB <Maxtor 4G160J8> [317632/16/63] at ata2-master UDMA133
acd0: CD-RW <24X10> at ata3-master PIO4

This is 4.6-PRERELEASE as of 2002-05-13 (Monday).

Regards
   Oliver
