And in a suprising move, as one of those people who unfortunately doesn't have the necessary talent to contribute code, but does use FreeBSD extensively, I agree with terry from the standpoint of letting the users put in scripts in rc or whatever to maintain the persistence, and not incorporating it into devfs. Even though it would mean a small amount of extra work for myself tweaking perms and such.
