yes sir. this is what i have...

*default host=cvsup2.FreeBSD.org

*default base=/source/cvsup
*default prefix=/source
*default release=cvs delete use-rel-suffix compress

*default tag=RELENG_4

src-all
--------------

actually, i tried after deleting these directories...

/source/src/lib/libcrypt*
/source/src/crypto/openss*

...followed by another 'make update'. no joy.

there was some problem in lib/libcrypto.so & des_encrypt. deletion & 
subsequent cvsup fixed that one but same procedure didn't help again 
w/ the latest error.

for completeness sake, each buildworld was tried after... 

# MAKEOBJDIRPREFIX=/source/obj ; export MAKEOBJDIRPREFIX
# cd /source/src && make cleandepend cleandir
# rm -rf /source/obj/*
