I have a clean version 4.0 and I don't have any scripts in the atapi
directory.

I've never tried to use cdrecord, but I have burned a number of data
cd's using burncd and an ATAPI HP8100i. Soren recently fixed
atapi-cd.c so that it would write on HP CDROM's.
