Nevermind. I found the solution. I ran the bind 4 -> 8 conversion
utility after finding a bind 8 homepage and fixed my named.boot file and
now all is well again. Although locating this conversion utility wasn't
exactly easy since the page tells me it's a perl script called
'named-bootconf.pl' and on my system it was just called 'named-bootconf'.
I didn't have to rename my files but I made a backup of them, as 4.9.6
boot files, and the new ones are 8.1.2 boot files. Essentially all I did
was..
/etc/named/# mv named.boot named.boot.4.9.6-REL
/etc/named/# named-bootconf named.boot.4.9.6.REL >& named.boot
/etc/named/# named.reload
and it worked. I've read over some of the new configuration options for
bind 8 and I can only say "I think I'm going to like it here". *smile*
