it's because we have two physical nets here:

internernal net --> BSD-Firewall-1 --> Bastion-Host-Net --> Linux -->
Internet

It's because of our security model and I'd like to replace the
Linux Box with a BSD-Box I'm more familiar with. Simply adding
a router between will open nearly all doors to the outside and
after a huge hack attempt half a year ago I prefer having there
some kind of protection too. That's why we're using this model.
