I am working on a patch.
Meanwhile, could you please test setting
kenv kern.cam.da.0.minimum_cmd_size=3D6
on the command line before plugging in the USB device for the first time?
Alternatively, you can add kern.cam.da.0.minimum_cmd_size=3D6 to
/boot/loader.conf and reboot.
This assumes that the disk attaches as "da0" as it did before.
