By default, there is a 300 second timeout.  Try putting 'set timeout 0' in
your profile.

Experiment.  ATAPI CDs take the cake for flakeo probing.  Unfortunatley,
the hot spot is slave on primary, so you'll have to either get your Maxtor
and CD to kiss and make up, or find another method.
