Yeah, that's pretty much it.  postfix is responsible for sending and 
receiving mails, and then handing them off to your IMAP server.  When you 
send mail from Oulook Express, you probably want it to relay through your 
BSD box.  This simply forwards mail from your client machine to the 
mailserver, which then takes over responsibility for sending it on.
