I'm not 100% sure whether USES=python supports the a.b,a.c format (I don't think it does), but if not, the closest thing we have to stipulating "< a.d" is "-a.c". See Mk/Uses/python.mk header for more detail. Either way the current BROKEN method is sub-optimal and doesn't provide a good user experience (breaks on attempt, rather than installing a valid Python version) -- Regards, ./koobs
