Hi, I have a FreeBSD 4.4-RC system running Samba 2.0.7 talking to Win98SE clients with Word 2k. I find that if I try and save a decent sized document (eg 4meg) it takes a long time (like 10-20 seconds), even if background saves is on. Saving to local disk is much faster (ie instantaneous). The server is a PIII800 with 2 IBM DTLA HD's, and a 100mbit network link. An FTP goes at the expected speed. Now, while I would like to hassle MS about this I doubt they'd be very responsive. Has anyone got any hits and tips on how to get Word to cooperate with Samba?
