Subject: 16 bit sound on Micron Transport ?

Hi,

I recently aquired a Micron TransPort XKE laptop which is supposed to
be soundblaster and microsoft sound system compatible.
The 8 bit soundblaster driver in 2.2.6 works fine with these lines in my conf:

controller snd0
device sb0 at isa? port 0x220 irq 7 conflicts drq 1 vector sbintr

However, I cant seem to get 16 bit sound, neither with the sbxvi or mss driver.
The BIOS allows me to set an 8 bit DMA channel, a 16 bit DMA channel, an IRQ
and 2 IO ranges. As you can see in the lines above thats DMA channel 1 with IRQ
7 for the 8 bit soundblaster, in IO range 220-22f
That leaves DMA 5 for 16 bit sound, and the IO range 330-331 for the MPU .. but
that doesnt work.

device sbxvi0 at isa? drq 5

the BIOS doesnt mention anything in the 530 range for microsoft sound support ...
(or a second IRQ, for that matter .. )
The chipset used is actually the ESS1878 or ESS1879 , micron isnt clear on that.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks,
Casey
