I have to agree with the other posters. I would not attempt the upgrade. =
If you do, you need to go to 5, then to 6, then to 7 all the way and in =
some cases you would need to update the minor releases. In between all =
that you would have to upgrade all the packages.

Your best bet is as indicated. Setup a new system with the desired =
packages and works on transferring your data.
