I know, and I'm using a dash in a couple of other ports - security/mhash,
net/p5-WWW-Curl, mail/vpopmail, etc.

However, with the cURL port it's mainly a matter of consistency and
preserving the status quo at the price of ignoring the portlint warnings :)
I moved from the patch-aa to the :: convention several years ago, and there
are quite a lot of patches that would need repo-copying should I decide
to use a dash instead.
