I'd like to add my name of the list of people having problems. 1) Environment: huff@jerusalem>> uname -v FreeBSD 7.0-CURRENT #0: Mon Mar 13 09:23:39 EST 2006 huff@jerusalem.litteratus.org:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/JERUSALEM 2) I followed these instructions: > > Maybe you want to give the fc4 one a try (since it is withhin the > > range of supported distributions listed in the google earth > > requirements). To do this you have to add > > OVERRIDE_LINUX_BASE_PORT=fc4 > > to /etc/make.conf and replace "linux-XFree86-libs" with > > "linux-xorg-libs" in ports/Mk/bsd.port/mk. After this you can update > > with: > > portupgrade -f -o emulators/linux_base-fc4 linux_base > > portupgrade -f -o x11/linux-xorg-libs linux-XFree86-libs and got this: huff@jerusalem>> dir /var/db/pkg | grep linux drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 512 Jun 14 10:10 linux-atk-1.8.0_2 drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 512 Jun 14 10:10 linux-esound-0.2.35_1 drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 512 Jun 14 10:34 linux-expat-1.95.7_1 drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 512 Jun 14 10:34 linux-fontconfig-2.2.3_4 drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 512 Jun 14 10:10 linux-glib2-2.4.8_2 drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 512 Jun 14 10:33 linux-gtk2-2.4.14_4 drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 512 Jun 14 10:10 linux-jpeg-6b.33_1 drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 512 Jun 14 10:10 linux-libaudiofile-0.2.6_1 drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 512 Jun 14 10:33 linux-pango-1.6.0_2 drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 512 Jun 14 10:10 linux-png-1.2.8_1 drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 512 Jun 14 10:33 linux-realplayer-10.0.7.785.20060201 drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 512 Jun 14 10:33 linux-sdl-1.2.5_2 drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 512 Jun 14 10:33 linux-sdl_image-1.2.4 drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 512 Jun 14 10:10 linux-tiff-3.6.1_6 drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 512 Jun 14 10:34 linux-xorg-libs-6.8.2_3 drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 512 Jun 14 12:31 linux_base-fc-4_1 drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 512 Jun 14 11:21 linux_dri-4.4.0 drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 512 Jun 9 18:18 linuxpluginwrapper-20051113 drwxr-xr-x 2 root wheel 512 Jan 24 11:30 linuxthreads-2.2.3_20 3) However, when I start googleearth I get the "Login status" and "'OpenGL' mode not supported" windows. Once I get rid of the "Login status" window ... none of the presented choices seemto apply. I'm running in 32-bit color, and (as far as I know have no other 3d programs running). Trying DirectX produces a crash (dump available on request); and exit-wait-restart has no effect. Have I missed something here? Robert Huff
