i just installed freeBSD for the first time. i am quite experiences with unix, i run a very small isp, and i am evaluating freeBSD as a replacement for my bsdi operating systems.

conditions:

i installed on my desktop computer, which has windoze running on the primary ide drive.

i installed another (1.2gb) ide drive as master on the secondary ide channel, with the atapi cd-rom as slave.

this computer has an amd k6 (pentium 233/mmx) with 32mb of edo ram.

i am installing freeBSD 2.2.7 from the walnut creek cdrom media.

i booted the cd-rom, and following instructions, installed basic system (binaries only for first run) on the 1.2gb drive. when finished, it re-booted....(it put the boot magager only on the drive 2) and said it could not mount root.

any help is greatly appreciated.

cheers,
jeff
