The way this needs to be done is by writing drivers which can accept
the specific resources and attach them to the existing bits of kernel
code they represent.  Much of this work has been done for optional
drivers, but standard drivers for the most part blindly assume the
hardware is there and in the standard place (for good reason, mind
you).
