Not only M$.  Intel as well.

Also realize that by offloading the processing onto the processor it
more quickly causes it to become outdated, so you need a faster
processor.

This is not 'paranoia' here, as I have a # of friends that work for
Intel, and this is a published strategy of theirs that happens to mesh
with M$'s vision.
